Work Text:
Shouji had always been the odd one out and yet he never knew why. Maybe it was the messy grey hair. Or the mask he wore to hide his oddly shaped mouth. Or maybe it was the six arms that extended from his back in a conjoined form, oddly like the webbing between frogs toes. It was probably the height. But what ever it was, he was sick of the attention it brought from the general public.
Like being stopped in the UA halls by other courses students for autographs. Granted he could sign six at once in under five seconds but it was effort. He couldn't be asked to bend down whenever people wanted photos with him- which was literally twice a day.
His class was his only solace, the place where could truly be himself. And by that, he means invisible because that's how the class always treated him. Although Shouji stuck out like a sore thumb, Aizawa acted like the only students to exist were the students he could probably get money from in the future- Shouji was not one of them.
It had gotten to the point where he was so forgotten by everyone in the hero course that he declared rather loudly (which was out of character for him) that's he's gonna start a one man band named "Spiderband". Alas! No one seemed to have listened.
The only person to respond was Tokoyami- which was expected. He suggested calling the band "Handsome".
Shouji was not amused.
He turned his appendages into eyes and stared at multiple people in the room. Nothing. He removed his mask letting the light shine brightly like a beacon of hope. Yep no one saw. Even Aoyama seemingly had better things to do- such as stare into the corner of the room winking and talking to no one.
He put his mask back up.
"If no one wants to notice me, I'll make them notice me," he muttered to himself, where he got a half hearted shush from one of his classmates.
And it had continued this way- Shouji doing the most stupid of things and being ignored. Halloween came by. He stuck pumpkins on the ends of his tentacles. Christmas arrived. He came into class decorated like a Christmas tree, complete with a star on his head. New year came and he stood on his desk until Aizawa, who didn't even look up from his own desk, told him to sit down.
Hagakure sneezed.
The whole class said bless you, making sure she had tissues and asking if she had taken some cold medicine.
Shouji and all of his tentacles sneezed- NOBODY EVEN GLANCED IN HIS DIRECTION.
He had had enough!
So the following week, he didn't show up for class. He stayed in his dorm sulking and not one person came to check on him. They all left him be. Even when he came out to eat, nobody acknowledged him. Fine if that's how they wanted to be, he would show them the exact same treatment.
Until one day he received a knock on the door. Curious, he called out "Who is it?"
"It's me, Tsu. I want to talk to you, ribbit."
Shouji was taken aback. The prettiest girl in the class wanted to talk to him? The spider man? His tentacles flushed red.
"Sure, enter-" called out his limb and before he knew It, Asui was hopping into the room, looking around.
"Empty. Just like my soul..."
Silence.
"Ribbit."
"What do you want, Asui?" He asked, looking down at the floor.
"Please call me Tsu," she said cheekily.
And then out of nowhere she sat down on the taller man's lap.
"And what I want... is You..." she whispered in a low voice. "Kero."
"You know you should really stick with a language-mmph!" He was suddenly cut off by her sticky finger pressing deeply against his tentacle mouth.
"Hush now love for we have been United. Meet me at 1 pm on the UA field for lunch. Wear something cute, ribbit." She ran a finger down his tentacle which made it sneeze.
"Bless you."
And before he knew it, she was out the door, leaving him very confused and entirely unsure of what just happened.
All he knew was that Asui was interested and someone in the class cared about him! He felt great.
Night time came and whilst everyone was asleep in their dorms, he went to the kitchen to make a picnic. He ignored Tokoyami perched on the fridge like a gargoyle, knowing this was normal and he wasn't going to interfere. Dark shadow patrolled the corners of the room, returning to Tokoyami every so often.
As Shouji worked, Tokoyami grew more curious. "What are you doing?"
"Creating a picnic," he said, still making sandwiches.
"Are you going to a playground?"
"No," he muttered, cutting the sandwiches in half and placing them in ziplock bags. "The field in UA."
"Ah... Revelry in the park."
"If you want. "
He finished up the picnic contents and put them in a basket, tossing a bag of mixed seeds at the bird boi.
"I'm off to bed. Night."
But he could barely sleep all night due to his excitement. A picnic? With a girl? That he liked? And who liked him back? Score!
The next afternoon, during the lunch period Shouji went to meet her, picnic in hand. She smiled at him as he arrived and patted the blanket she had put down on the floor.
"It's cold for a February isn't it? Ribbit," she said, pulling her jacket tight.
"It is, " he said, looking at her worriedly. "Are you going to be okay? You're not going to go into hibernation are you?"
She shook her head. "My costume has built in thermal heaters, so it keeps me warm in winter. Any way, let's eat."
And so they ate, ate the whole picnic and drunk all the drinks.
"I'm going to step away for a bit. You'll see why. Just stretch out a tongue."
Although confused, he waited until she stopped, nearly forty feet away. He created a tongue and stretched it out as far as possible. This turned out to be more than half the distance.
And so did Asui.
She stuck out her tongue as far as possible and her tongue met Shoujis. His heart thud, excitement taking over his whole body.
They both moved their sticky wet tongues against each other, forty feet apart. His tongue brushed hers with the tenderness of a lioness licking her cub. Asui licked back and saliva flew everywhere as they got more intense. From forty feet away from eachother.
And then Shouji swore he heard voices. He ignored it, still licking furiously. Until, from behind the trees, he heard his classmates singing.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear- LORD WHAT THE FUCK!"
The whole class was there, holding a birthday cake, streamers, screaming at the tops of their lungs.
And the screams of delight turned to acute terror of the sight of this feat- (forty feet of them.)
Shouji still had one of the limbs tongues battling with Asuis.
"See told you he was in the field!" Declared Tokoyami, proud of himself.
"Now. Who wants to join them?"
