A rumor has been going around PK Academy as of late. Or, no, not a rumor. It's more of a legend. They at that there is some form of temperamental god watching over the school. It protects the students and prevents disasters. They say that if you go up to the unused classroom on the second floor and leave an appropriate offering, this god will grant you a favor. This, the rumours say, is why a student who was previously only a bit faster than average was elevated to superhuman speeds during the sports festival just in time to keep his class from landing in last place. This, the rumours continue, is why Chiyo got one last good date from her boyfriend for their three month anniversary, and why Kaido seemed to gain the supernatural powers he always claimed to have for just long enough to slay the snake that was terrorising class 3.
It is not always a benevolent good, say the quiet students in the backs of the classroom. The are the students who see the most, and who rarely fall for misdirection. They whisper of a boy who was attacked by the so called “dark reunion” after bullying the school's resident chuunibyou. These whispers tell of the day Chiyo spent seemingly fighting date just for a chance to talk to her crush, and of the humiliation of the newspaper club after they tried to falsify pictures of Teruhashi pooping. These are the voices that warn that any being with the power to give also has the power to take, and tell their listeners to beware the anger of any being more powerful than themselves.
Still, it is the positive rumours that are more prevalent, and even those who hear the warnings are occasionally desperate enough to take a chance anyways, so the offerings continue to already in the empty classroom on the second floor. The don't always work, in fact, daily airline are often found back in backpacks or stuffed in deals or cubbies later in the day, and the one boy who was stupid enough to offer a porno magazine spent the next day tripping over nothing and being avoided by every girl he came across. (Many were surprised that Toritsuka hadn't tried to pull anything like that. When questioned he gained a terrified look and told the questioners that he wasn't stupid enough to pull something like that). Still, every so often money would work, and sweets, especially chocolate, always disappeared from the makeshift shrine, with those who had gifted them receiving the help they needed, if not always precisely what they had asked for.
(Saiki, after all, had a weakness for sweets, and hated being in someone's debt. He took to his new position with the reluctance that characterized most of his actions, and swore revenge of the one who had started the rumours in the first place. )
(He would, however, admit to being grateful for the sweets.)
