Summary:

Shinsou Hitoshi was born with an incredible Quirk, but not everyone see it that way. Many of his classmates are terrified of him. And after one particular day, Shinsou struggles with his state of mind. Until you come along.

Notes:

So I really love Shinsou. His quirk is really cool and I think his design is cool and he's just precious and adorable.

Chapter Text

Shinsou was trying to get home without mentally breaking down. He always fought so hard to maintain his composure and stay stable. But he was quickly losing that.

He’d truly believed people were over thinking of him and his Quirk as villainous. He thought they finally understood and accepted him. And just as he’d gotten comfortable and let his guard down a tiny bit, someone came along to ruin that for him.

“Are you kidding me? That’s a terrifying Quirk. I can’t believe you’re all just okay with that.” The words of the new kid swirled in his head, adding to the fire.

“Gifted piece of shit.” Shinsou mumbled, stopping in his tracks to attempt to collect himself. It really bothered him. Why couldn’t he have been gifted with an innocent Quirk? Why couldn’t he be as perfect as everyone else? Why was he the fucked up one?

Shinsou dropped his school bag, his face buried in his hands. He felt like he could cry from sheer anger and pain.

“Hitoshi?” A soft voice calling his name broke him free from his overwhelming thoughts. He dropped his hands and glanced behind him to locate the voice. It was you. You were slowly making your way to him.
“I didn’t know you walked this way as well. I would’ve asked to walk with you.” You said, stopping next to him. You observed his disheveled appearance and his bag lying on the ground. “Is everything okay, Hitoshi?” You were looking at him with worry.

Shinsou took a moment to size you up, glance over you and grasp that you were actually there with him. You were one of the very few people he allowed to call him by his first name. And it was all because you understood him and respected him. You didn’t treat him like a villain. And Shinsou liked that about you. He liked you a lot, actually. He wanted to tell you and find out if you liked him too. He wanted to do more than stare at your hair and back during class because you sat in front of him. And he wanted more than just the idle chit chat before class.

But for some reason, he put all that aside. His anger was too great and he was worked up. Shinsou couldn’t help the words that came out of his mouth.
“Why do you care?” He asked bitterly, looking at you with his head cocked to one side.

You retreated a little, surprised at his harsh words. “I… I’ve always cared. I just want you to be okay.” You explained, suddenly finding it hard to speak.

“Tch.” He scoffed and shook his head. “You’re just as bad as all the other blessed students. With your perfect Quirk. You have nothing to worry about.”

You frowned, thoroughly confused by his words. “Did something happen today?” You asked him, staying genuine. No matter what he said you were determined to get through to him. You just wanted to be there for him.

“What do you get out of coming after me, huh? Do you want to tell me how much of a villain I am?” He demanded, his voice raising. “Do you want to remind me of how terrifying my power is?” Shinsou realized what he had done. He was using his Quirk. And it worked because you responded.

“Hitoshi!” You called out only for your eyes to go blank and for you to stand practically like a zombie beside him.

Shinsou looked at you, his eyes full of pain and sadness. He was being stupid. How could he do this to you? He knew you cared. He knew you would never consider him as a villain. He sighed heavily and released the control he had over you. You blinked several times and looked up at him. You remembered everything that had happened and proceeded to walk over to him.

“I’m sorry.” Shinsou said quietly, his rage finally calmed. His eyes were shut. He felt a sudden warmth and opened his eyes to find you had taken his hands in yours. You were looking right into his eyes.

“You are not a villain. You have a really strong Quirk and I think that’s awesome. I think you’re so great, Hitoshi.” You told him, squeezing his hands. “I really like you and I don’t care what anyone else says about you. I know who you are.”

Shinsou was lost in your words. They kept repeating in his head and he felt so reassured. He felt okay with you. He felt safe and accepted and like he could be open with you. And you liked him.
“Y/N…” He mumbled before grabbing you and holding you to him in a tight hug. “Thank you.” He smiled a little when he felt your arms wrap around him. He pulled away after a moment and leaned down to grab his bag.

“Can I walk you home?” He asked, glancing at you. “There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
You smiled at him. “Of course.”
