[Dazai swore under his breath and reached into his pocket, grabbing hold of a hand grenade just before he was pinned to the ground. The man raised the bat over Dazai's head, rearing to hit him, but Dazai just smirked, hooking his finger in the pin.

His sentence was cut off as Chuuya ran across the room, picking Dazai's gun up off the floor and putting himself between Dazai and the man that was trying to kill him.

Chuuya had died.
Memories of what happened came back to her in flashes. First, there were glimpses, scenes too brief and fleeting for her to remember. But slowly, fuller pictures came back to her, overwhelming her senses with the memory of the past. The smell of gunfire and sulfur polluting the air. The sound of screams and yells fighting to drown out the gunfire. Feelings of hopelessness, of losing control. The dreadful feeling of red wrapping around her skin, a snake of evil, branding her as a demon, as she lost all control of her consciousness and body. Of destruction, of decimation wrought upon buildings, people, and the earth alike, no discrimination found in the ruination. And finally, the memory of a gentleness, a calming, washing over her like a gentle ocean wave, placating the storm, before her world faded to an all-consuming black.
