It’s been three weeks since Nikolai’s coronation. Three weeks since all of Ravka saw her slice a heart render high on Jurda Parem in half with shadows that belonged to the Darkling and his ilk.
Three weeks of laying low, doing her best not to attract too much attention to herself, of acting as a repentant Saint for the public so the anti-Grisha sentiment would stop echoing in the halls of the Grand Palace. Not even her engagement to the King, or the fact that she’s given everything she has to the Grisha cause, to uniting Ravka and removing the Fold, can help her if she doesn’t appear penitent. Exhausting is putting it lightly, the way that the public seems to demand her apologies even though she’d saved their King and country from falling into yet another civil war; demoralizing the way that the Grisha once more have a target placed on their backs because of the actions of one, and the repercussions of taking that action.

His glare and scowl is immediately replaced with a soft smile and a glint in his eyes when he looks at Lois. “What was that about, Smallville?” Lois asks him, turning in her stool to face him completely.
Clark shrugs, taking a glance at her lips before looking back up at her eyes. “Nothing… just… didn’t like him touching you.” He admits, the bar’s music still pounding, everything around them didn’t shift except the air between them. He’s quiet with his words, almost ashamed that he acted the way that he did, not ashamed for the reason though.
Lois clicks her tongue, but she grabs the front of his shirt, dragging him off of the stools, pulling him towards her with her eyes locked on one place in the bar; the bathrooms. “You. Me. Bathroom. Now.”
Or... celebrating Lois Lane's birthday in a downtown bar was going great, up until one of Lois' ex-boyfriends shows up and decides to flirt with Lois directly in front of her 6'4, himbo hunk of a boyfriend, and who knew jealousy looked so hot on him when he bends her over the bathroom sink?

She leaned against her palms on the edge of the sink, arms locked straight, and let her head and shoulders droop down until she was looking at the floor, taking two deep breaths. He’d gone out the front door, so he’d have to be moving at a normal human pace for the time being. It was a coin flip on whether he’d gone down to street level and walked the three blocks home on foot, or whether he’d taken the stairwell up a floor to fly off from the roof. If it was the latter, he’d be gone before she could catch up. If the former, he’s probably still waiting for the elevator.
What if Clark came back to make amends after the interview went south? Technically set in the 2025 movie universe, but includes character details and references from MAWS and the first two Reeve movies.
