Summary
Why is it that Cybertronians behave so much like humans despite being of another world? The answer is far darker than one would expect. These beings from beyond the stars have their own agendas, and they are nothing like the humans they work so hard to blend in amongst. Agent Witwicky, assigned the mission of understanding these aliens, will quickly come to realize that both Autobots and Decepticons are threats that should not be underestimated.
In essence: What if Cybertronians were written to be more alien? Less cartoonishly heroic? How would things change?

Summary
When the teleportation rune landed them in an unknown territory, Sam was prepared to improvise. He’d come too far, after all, to let Eret slip from his grasp before he got the answers for which he’d been so desperately searching. It didn’t matter all that much anyway, all he had to do was buy enough time for Lindsay and Marquess Manifold’s workers to track them down to the new location.
Except things seem to go off the rails almost immediately, and returning home wasn't as easy a task as simply activating the correct teleportation rune.
For better or worse, he and Eret were stuck, leaving Sam with limited options on how to move forward. He wasn’t sure if it helped that they were now surrounded by genius outcasts as they tried to find their way home, but whatever happened, he would protect his family.
THE SHORT OF IT: A Fantasy/Royalty AU that features unconventional A/B/O dynamics, political worldbuilding, a heavy emphasis on trauma recovery and found family dynamics, and soap-opera levels of non-communication. And also, there’s romance. See forenotes for more details.

Eret's steps echoed on the tile. They placed a torch once they’d turned a few corners, surprised at the lack of mobs, and slid down the wall to catch their breath. Their legs ached from running, skin scraped raw.
The hieroglyphics on the wall across from them showed a tall golden being with arched scarab wings, standing before supplicants with the dark figure of an archer at its back. Eret recognized the god from a common myth of the era, a tale of life and undeath often placed in tombs, but couldn’t recall the specific myth that the archer must have represented.
This was a temple for the god of totems, who had once shared the server with the rulers of the Antarctic Empire and of the SMP itself, and on his walls he had inscribed a welcome to the dead, a reassurance and a promise: When you die, you will not be alone.
Eret supposed it was literally true, if nothing else.

He yanked down his shorts to finish sunscreening before he jumped in, and had to look up when he heard Springer choke. Someone drowning was not how he wanted this weekend to turn out.
“Uh, Roddy?” Springer asked. “You, uh, forgot something?”
“Uh…” Hot Rod tried to remember if he’d left the stove on. Or the keys in the car.
“Your suit,” Arcee said, swimming back up to the dock ladder with a couple of long, smooth strokes. She wasn’t looking at him.
“I didn’t bring one. I was just going to skinny dip.”
