“What a load of poodoo,” Captain Syndulla says, rolling her eyes at him. “You don’t get to decide for us what you do and do not deserve.” She points an accusing finger at him, her voice stern. “You’re right that you have a lot to make up for,” she says, “but you have to keep yourself alive long enough to get there.”
Kallus blinks through the fog in his brain, “I don’t know what use I have any more. Thrawn will have reported my actions so I will be of no use in the field. Empire intel changes quickly and often, so my information will become obsolete.” Useless isn’t even the right word for him anymore, he thinks, now he is a liability. “Perhaps it would have been better to have left me floating in space,” he says softly, staring down at the bruises on his wrists.
Syndulla makes a soft sound, her hand reaching out to touch Kallus’ arm gently. “That’s not how we work,” she says. “You should know that by now.”
