Hayden hated the guy. Hated him.
Hated his stupid, smug smirk and the myriad of insults he threw Hayden’s way and the way he made fun of Shane like it was a funny game then looked him up and down like a piece of meat and his reputation of sleeping with everything that fucking moved and the memories of being slammed into the boards by him and quite literally everything about this Russian dickhead.
And he hated that he was now going to have to do everything in his power to learn how to tolerate Rozanov because Shane was inexplicably and hopelessly in love with him, and Shane was his brother in every fucking thing but blood, and Hayden was not going to keep being responsible for that sad puppy look on his face every time he realized how poorly they got along.
So far, Hayden sucked at it. Big time.

It bothers Shane that Hayden and Ilya don't get along, so Hayden is putting in the effort to try and see these redeeming qualities Shane claims the guy has. Over the years it becomes easier and easier, until one day, he realizes he doesn't have to actually try anymore.

Last night, Ilya dreamed Shane served him divorce papers. They were making dinner when suddenly Shane pulled them out of the microwave and thrust them into Ilya’s hand. This isn’t working, he said. I’m divorcing you. No negotiations.
And look: of course Ilya understands that it was just a dream. The official divorce petition was a stack of sticky notes. Shane had faintly green skin and, Ilya is pretty sure, a third eye next to his left nipple. It obviously wasn’t real.

“What?”
“The third player.” Shane clarified, “In the big three of active players? I mean it’s me and Ilya, right?”
Amelia nodded mutely whilst Luca Haas, who had been asked the question, stared at Shane with wide eyes.
“So, who’s the third?” Shane’s face took on a contemplative look.
“Scott Hunter?” Amelia said with confusion.
“Hunter?” Shane looked surprised. “Why?”

For a second Ilya pauses, then he opens the door and steps inside. Yuna is sitting on the hospital bed with her leg wrapped in a cast. Besides her lifted leg, there are no obvious signs indicating anything even happened. They barely look at each other before wheezing laughter echoes throughout the room.
Five times Yuna needs Ilya’s help and one time he needs hers.

Rozanov rolled his eyes. “Yes, because it is so silly to want to know where you are going. I know you looked up every last detail, you are not high and mighty.”
Hayden found himself chuckling. “Yeah, Shane, you're not all high and mighty. I bet you managed to find the blueprints of the rental, just to make sure it was to your standards.”
“What the fuck is this? You two are teaming up on me now?” Shane tried to sound offended, but his delight pushed right through.
“Ah, is only because we know you are full of shit.” Rozanov nodded, very sure of himself as per usual.
