    Summary

    I've noticed (and enjoyed!) a number of Hobbit fanfics that seem to follow very similar story beats. I wanted to keep them all in a single place so that I and other interested readers might find them again.

    The general format is as follows:
    * Bilbo Baggins has an unusual talent, ability, occupation, backstory, etc. as compared to general Hobbit canon
    * Bilbo joins the Company of Thorin Oakenshield for an adventure
    * The Company do not know that Bilbo Baggins has this unusual talent, ability, occupation, backstory, etc. and are suitably surprised at the revelation
    * Bilbo's unusual talent, ability, occupation, backstory, etc. helps him on this adventure, usually for the better

    Not every fic follows these standards exactly, but I've found them all to follow the spirit of it, at the very least.

    I hope everyone loves reading them like I did! :)
