Summary
If a house is a hearth, what can be called the flame within it? The people living there, or the feelings between them? Maomao had never pondered such philosophical questions. For her, family had always been Lomen and the sisters from the Copper House, and romantic love was foreign to her by definition. But the whirlwind of life events that brought her together with Jinshi made her understand the phrase "All emotions come from fire."
(Sweet, sweet Jinmao slow burn, not without a touch of dramatic tang).

Summary
Maomao and Jinshi have finally settled into their life as husband and wife and their roles within the palace as the Moon Prince and Princess Consort. However, when their marital relations inevitably "bear fruit", they'll have to navigate what it means to further the imperial line. Facing the inevitable changes and challenges will be difficult, but at least they'll be doing it together.
It's going to be a long nine months.

“I’m the Emperor’s eldest son,” Jinshi blurts out when Maomao opens the door.
He stands, half slouched against the frame of her door as if he might collapse. His ragged, hurried breaths make for the only sound in the dark hallway of her dorms, which remain blessedly silent in spite of the nightly disturbance. Maomao should have gone to bed a long time ago, but she lost track of time, leafing through one of the books she borrowed from the medical office.
Would she have heard Jinshi knock on her door if she had?
Her eyes scan over his dishevelled features and she blindly reaches for his wrist, pulling him inside. The muted thump of the door closing behind them sounds like an ominous warning about her allowing an unmarried man inside her chambers in the middle of the night.
or: Jinshi knocks on her door in the middle of the night with a discovery. Maomao lets him in.

Summary
Through all of these discoveries, Kakyou concluded it was human nature to repeat the actions of those who came before you. The calculations proved it — she had pages upon pages dedicated to proving this theory of hers, which she called the “Chongdao Theorem.” It was statistically proven, at least according to her, that people were bound to act like their parents, their grandparents, or their ancestors, one way or another.
Kakyou, a cowardly and frail young girl with aspirations of being a mathematician, develops a theory that predicts the similar behavior between parents and their children; the Chongdao Theorem. In her efforts to prove this theory, she's faced with mysteries and obstacles that helps her prove the Chongdao Theorem and decipher what she finds most difficult to understand; human nature.

Maomao crouched down in her garden, hands to the ground. The pain that shot through her abdomen made her fingers spasm, crushing the delicate herbs. Something was very wrong. The petite lady wasn’t one for panic, but as her analytical mind ran through the possible causes of her sudden ache, fear slowly settled in. This wasn’t like any pain she had experienced testing poisons; it was more akin to very bad days on her period. A pain one surely wasn’t supposed to experience when pregnant.
