He can't bring himself to care right now.Maybe that's on him for never asking for anything-- but he can't, people need to be healed whether they have gold or not, and it's Dream's own fault that Nightmare hurts them in the first place.
As the innkeeper looks at him, he can't help wishing he had stayed away a little longer, to earn a little more. But if he had any strength left, he would still be healing people. There's really no time to be doing anything else.(Some part of him knows there's no time to rest, either. But he's so tired, it hurts, he has to know when to stop. Just for a few hours.)
For a few hours, he's peacefully unaware. Numb to the pain and heartache, almost comfortable in the soft sheets.
Then the roof caves in.
