A moment passes and then Riza offers the envelope for Roy to take. "You should have a look at it, sir."
With shaking hands, Roy takes it and opens it. He reaches inside to find a folded up piece of paper and a small metal object. Withdrawing the object, his heartbeat picks up in speed when he can finally see what it is – a silver pocket watch. He doesn't have to open it to know that it's Ed's.
After a moment, he shoves it into his pocket and takes the paper from the envelope to unfold it and read its contents.
'General Mustang,' it reads, 'if you ever want to see the Fullmetal Alchemist alive again, then you will meet me at the location listed below by five o'clock today. Come alone.'

Her hopes of making a nice cup of tea and working late into the night are dashed by Colonel Mustang, who seems to care more about making sure she gets home safe than about the hours she needs to put in if she's going to prove herself to the top brass. But maybe accepting the Colonel's help isn't so bad, especially not when she can barely walk herself back to her office.
This started as a one-shot sickfic and evolved into two chapters. I may or may not be adding more in the future.

Roy’s hands have been hurting for the better part of the day.
At first, it wasn’t even that bothersome. When he woke up in the morning, there was only this peculiar, strange feeling of buzzing numbness. It was easy to think that he simply slept on his arms and now was suffering the consequences. He even laughed along with Ed, when his mug slipped from his hands. Only Ed’s reflexes saved it from getting smashed to pieces. “Damn, you’re really getting old,” Ed muttered, chuckling.
Then, he went to the headquarters, where the exhausting heat made every second spent in his office more insufferable than it already was. It didn’t help that Riza had declared that he had been falling behind for far too long and he should focus more on his paperwork. So he was reading. And writing. All day.
That turned the numb buzzing into an ache.
However, that was still manageable. It was still dull. Roy could push it to the back of his mind, ignore it as long as he needed to.
And then it started to rain.

I imagine that asking “How are you?” would be slightly unnecessary. Your accomplishments in both Xing and Auergo have reached even Amestris; congratulations on your speech in Auergo. Not many have the pleasure of giving a lecture there.
However, it was brought to my attention that you got stranded in Auergo for quite some time. Miss Rockbell told me what was the matter, and as so happens, I own a copy of the book you need right now. Although, really, I have expected better from you. Forgetting about the basics already? One would think your memory was better than that.
As you can probably see, my version is slightly older than yours, thus some information may not be as accurate as the later copies. But don’t worry, I’ve made some annotations throughout the years to rectify it. I hope it won’t be a problem for you.

And yet in all that frenzy, he didn't forget.
He knew he should take Al with him; his brother would definitely want to go if he knew. But when Ed spotted a dark figure in the distance standing near the very grave he wanted to visit, he knew he had made the right decision.

It is an indisputable fact that both Ed and Roy are aware of.
It doesn’t mean that either of them follows it to the tea.
As much as they like to deny it, both are pretty terrible at maintaining a healthy work-to-sleep balance. Becuase there is always something. A few more pages to read because finally, this one theory started to make sense. A few more documents to sign. Just one little trip. One last check over.
So really, when it was way past midnight, and Roy still wasn’t home, Ed could only sigh, get up and head to the headquarters to beat his boyfriend’s ass right back home.
