Hermione soon realizes she's trapped in a world that operates by rules she doesn't understand. Where people walk up trees and move like smoke, where her magic means nothing and her words fall on deaf ears.
She can't make him understand. Can't explain what she is or where she came from. Can't beg for mercy in words he knows.
And slowly, Hermione begins to understand that there may be no way home. There may be no home left to return to.
Some prisons have no doors. Some falls have no bottom.

That the mech descending from above, plasma blade pointed down towards him as he was held in place by the Scouts on either side of him, was a reanimated corpse, experimented on by the Quints to make a mech-killing machine.
