Eren lifted the curtain and found himself in a close space lit by a single gas lamp flickering weakly on the far wall. He took a book from the sagging shelf: Orations on the Erotic Arts. A blush spread across his face. It was that sort of back room.
Emboldened by the secluded nature of the little curtained-off space, Eren began to peruse the shelves in earnest. He flipped through and discarded several volumes of lewd art with colour reproductions, a medical manual devoted to the treatment of venereal disease, a philosophical treatise on love, and a collection of poems translated from Hizuruen that made his blush return.
At last he found something interesting — A Practical Guide to the Sensual Arts. Inside he discovered woodblock illustrations and detailed practical advice. His eyes widened."

Ymir hadn't eaten since the night before, and her empty stomach gurgled in complaint. Her whole body roiled in rebellion. She never wanted to become a wife. Better to be born a boy and become a warrior. She imagined herself with a shining sword, riding a warhorse and felling enemies — Eldians or Marleyans or anyone else who threatened her village. There was a flash of recognition, and she saw bodies falling to pieces in her hands, men fleeing in terror. A surge of triumph passed through her.
