Gwaine scoffed as he crossed his arms over his chest, chin jutted out as he resolutely shook his head.
"No way. We can handle ourselves without Merlin for two days...Well, some of us can." He clicked his tongue with a nod towards the other three. Leon frowned.
"What are you trying to say?"
"That we didn’t grow up with servants," Elyan snorted "I know it’s a scary thought but...we can actually survive a hunt without Merlin’s stew." He said. Gwaine gasped in fake shock.
"We don’t need a servant," Arthur piped up immediately, chest puffing out in defiance "Hell, with how Merlin is, I’ve pretty much been without a servant for years!"
"Great!" Percival said and jerked his head "Then let’s go."
Or

"Did you really think I'd leave you behind?"
Merlin looks up from where he's polishing Arthur's armour. It's a few weeks after their return from the Cauldron of Arianrhod and all the revelations that entailed, and they're finally speaking normally again.
"I wouldn't have, but I've learned over the last few months that it's best not to assume anything like that about my friends."

Summary
For the first time in years, he felt more like a servant than a friend, and after all they went through together, Merlin couldn’t deny that it hurt. Of course, Arthur would want to spend some time alone with Gwen, that was normal, but Merlin felt like Arthur didn’t need him around as a friend anymore. Like he had been replaced. They used to talk in the morning, after the King had finally got out of bed after much grumbling. Arthur would tell him about his worries, he would complain about insufferable Lords and ask Merlin’s advice for how to solve a dispute or how to change a policy. Of course, he always pretended that he wasn’t taking Merlin’s opinion into account, that a servant didn’t have the wit or the knowledge to adequately understand a complex situation. But Merlin knew that Arthur always listened to him and that he valued his input. But now, he dismissed Merlin as soon as the servant had brought up his breakfast, claiming that he and Gwen could dress alone. Merlin missed dressing Arthur, making sure his hair looked good and fastening his armour.

Arthur and Gwen's wedding marks the start of a series of events that will put a strain on Arthur, Gwen and Merlin's relationship. -

Summary
When Arthur discovered Merlin’s magic, he thought it was the last of Merlin’s mysteries. Looking back at all the strange excuses, secret trips out of the castle, and odd bits of wisdom on subjects he was meant to know nothing about, ‘sorcerer’ seemed to explain all of it.
...but the secret trips didn’t end after Arthur lifted the magic ban, and neither did the excuses.
(AKA, the one where Merlin puts together an illegal necromancy ring, and everyone except Arthur is in on it.)
