Summary
An alternate take on the Dead Air episode. In this version, when Ziva and Tim stop listening to Tony’s live feed, he disappears. Gibbs blames his junior agents. Vance calls in the FBI to investigate. While the BAU team is assigned the case to locate and recover Tony, Gibbs insists on being kept in the loop, involved in finding Tony, and bringing him home.

Summary
Tony left NCIS and is now employed by the FBI, assigned to a team that works missing persons cases in California. He can’t believe it when Tim calls from DC to tell him that Gibbs’ boat blew up on a lake, and Gibbs is now missing. Tony travels to DC to assist in the search, but no trace of Gibbs is found. Returning back to his job in LA, Tony is still devastated by the loss. One night, he meets an attractive young man on a beach and they begin a relationship. However, more surprises come down the road to shake up Tony’s world, including Gibbs’ journals that Tim finds and sends to Tony to read. Through the journals, Tony learns that Gibbs secretly harbored romantic feelings toward him for many years, which leads to Tony re-evaluating how he truly feels about Gibbs. It also leaves him more determined than ever to find out what happened to his former boss.
