My Mother Will Hear About This

Chapter 39: One Last Toast

Summary:

Harrison's Epilogue.

Notes:

As I had Harrison appear in some of the other epilogues I will not be covering what was discussed in them, so this chapter can focus on new events.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

After Albus attacked the manor, both Harrison and Lucius were taken to St. Mungos to get looked over. Both had cuts and bruises but Harrison due to breaking the promise to never cast Sectumsempra was laid out. This was due to the punishment he received for casting the spell, even in his own defense nearly drained his Magical Core. Harrison spent two weeks confined to a bed so his Core could heal itself. Two months after he was able to get out of bed Harrison had to borrow one of his husband's Wand holders and use it as a cane that it appeared to be. While he did this his Papa took steps to make sure the Sectumsempra spell was never used again as he found an old copy of his Advance Guide to Potionsmaking where the spell had been written and destroyed the whole book. Severus then cast a memory charm on everyone who knew the spell to make them forget how to cast it, including himself.

Harrison was just glad that despite everything, even having to use a cane, he was finally able to drop his son off at Kings Cross for Draco to head to Hogwarts for his Fifth Year of classes. Since his Papa and Dad were setting up at school Harrison was also dropping off Neville as well. Since they had received confirmation that Granger was no longer coming back and the Weasleys had been given the Age Regression Potions, Neville and Draco held each other's arms as they arrive on the platform. Pansy glowered at them since Harrison and Luci had informed Lord and Lady Parkinson that they had set up a Marriage Contract for Draco but had not shared who Draco had been promised to be with.

The majority on the platform were not focused on Draco and Neville, rather their attentions were on him. Harrison understood this for apart from the members of the Governing Group and his Godson Michael he had not met with any of his old classmates from either time at Hogwarts since revealing his true identity. Most on the platform just stood there gawking at him but one student moved forward to greet him. "Hello, Harrison you have changed since the last tasks," Cedric Diggory said holding out his hand to him.

"Heir Diggory it is good to see you again," Harrison said shaking the now younger student's hand.

"I don't have the money that Draco gave me of your winnings but I," Cedric began only for Harrison to cut him off.

"I approve of my son's actions, and I hardly need that money. Merlin, I did not even need it when I was a student," Harrison said with an easy smile. "It is yours to do with as you like."

"Thank you, sir," Cedric said bowing his head a little.

"Harrison is fine, or Consort Malfoy if you just have to be formal about it," Harrison said with a small chuckle.

This led to the flood gates of others coming over to say hello. Some like Seamus had the attitude that Neville had first shown when Harrison revealed himself, being upset that Harrison had "abandoned them," while others like Dean Thomas treated him as they had before he had been sent back in time. Colin Creevey even asked for a photo, and for once Harrison allowed it as he moved over to one of the station benches to sit down to not have to kneel in his condition letting Colin's dad take the picture. Everyone was so focused on getting to talk to him that the train conductors had to intervene as most had missed the sound to board the train so that the students would not be left behind.

With Albus no longer in the picture and the reforms being approved in the Wizengamot, Tom had notified everyone who was a member of the Governing Group that they no longer had to have "secret" meetings anymore. As he basically ended the group as it was transformed more into just old friends hanging out without having to bring politics into their get-togethers.

A few years later Harrison sat in the front row of the parent and family section in the Great Hall as his son graduated from Hogwarts. Harrison cheered for every student recalling mostly good times with them during his time at the castle. Though of course just to embarrass Draco when his son was called up Harrison gave a wolf whistle making his son facepalm. Neither Luci nor himself was upset that Draco was not named Valedictorian, happy that he had been in the top ten students in his year. The student that had been named Valedictorian did not surprise Harrison either as being Theodore Nott the Second. For he recalled faint memories of Granger complaining about Theodore being one of the students who would tend to do better than her more often than not. Knowing what he knew now, about the Nott family and its connection to Sycamore Academy it made sense that Theodore had more focus on his schooling than the majority of his classmates.

The only sad part about the graduation was that his baby had decided to move into a small apartment. While he still had the twins, who were now four years old, it was still sad to see his Dragon leave the nest. But Draco wanted to prove he could make it on his own as he got a small, by Malfoy family standards, penthouse in Cardiff. Draco even showed more restraint than Harrison and Luci had done after Harrison's graduation by not having Neville move in with him. As Draco's Fea side had connected with Neville and chosen as his mate the pair still got together at least once a day at the most or twice a week if their schedules were full. Draco was busy in his position as an apprentice wandmaker to Master Jax-Gat in Kelpie Avenue. While Neville who during his last three years at Hogwarts was able to bring his skill in potions up was working as an intern at St. Mungos.

It was a little strange for Harrison to see Neville now more than he saw his son, but he guessed that was just part of Draco and his growing up. Not that he saw Neville that much as it was since Neville was interning in Wards similar to where his parents were housed. He could not work directly with his parents due to St. Mungos's bylaws so he would not be tempted to spend too much time with them, rather than with the other residents of the Ward. Harrison and his old friend still managed to catch each other either during lunch or break time.

Draco still came home at least once a week for a meal to discuss how his life was going at the moment. During one of their lunches, Draco revealed that during one of his lunch breaks he had wandered the alley and had seen Granger working in a used bookstore. He had not gone in of course since she appeared to be the only person working at the moment, but Draco said there was no mistaking her bushy hair and slightly large front teeth.

Harrison could not help but go check out the store the next chance he got. Seeing if Granger's time in Voggek had helped her mature or stop being such a bossy know-it-all. So under the excuse that he was looking for a copy of one of the books written about "Harry Potter" Harrison visited the store. He smiled to himself seeing that Granger was working at the time of his visit. Having never been in this particular store before Harrison began to just casually wander around, knowing that sometimes he could find a book that looked interesting that he had not been looking for.

Harrison did find some interesting books, such as one that dealt with a Magical human's account of having Cupid Sight that he picked up for his nephew since Sol had only met Goblins who had possessed the gift. He picked up some books for Bella and Xeno on the subjects the twins were currently obsessed with, Magical Creatures for Bella and architecture for Xeno. The store even had a small section of recent books where Harrison saw Lily's newest book, Stories of the Lost Vol. 2 which he decided to pick up. Feeling as though he had enough books he no longer had to stick with his ruse Harrison brought his purchases to the register to let Granger ring him up.

Since he was no longer using any of his Glamors, Granger did not recognize him as she rang him up while muttering under her breath about his purchase. She did not have anything to say about the books he was getting for the twins, though she did not believe that Cupid Sight was a real magical ability. She believed Lily and her book were nothing but a bunch of lies from the Dark that had been used against "Professor Dumbledore." Harrison did not respond to her mutterings for the only reason he heard them was knowing she would have a hard time keeping her thoughts to herself, he had silently cast a spell to increase his hearing ability. Giving him a fake smile she thanked him and wished him a good day. As he left the store he saw her drop the smile in the reflection from the front window as he planned to head home.

"Mother, what are you doing here?" Draco's voice asked stopping him from Apparating back to the manor.

"I wanted to see if they had any good books here," he said, "and they did."

"I bet," Draco said giving him an understanding look.

"Fine I wanted to check out what you told your father and me at lunch last week alright," Harrison admitted. "The books were just a bonus." From a reflection, Harrison now saw Granger looking at him a look of understanding now on her face. Pretending not to notice the reflection Harrison showed his purchase with his son.

"Well since you are here we might as well have lunch," Draco said in a way that made Harrison think of his son acting grown-up when he had met his younger self for the first time. Harrison was treated to lunch at the nearby cafe that his son would frequent when he did not want to pack a lunch for work. Both of them noticed that Granger had tailed them to the cafe, but had not entered the place just watching them from a "hiding spot" across the street.

"I hope she does not follow me back to Master Jax-Gat's shop," Draco said pretending to flip through the book for Xeno to block his mouth in case Granger could read lips naturally or with magic.

"I doubt she would do that for it could be a sign of stalking which could get her into trouble," Harrison said making it look as if he was taking a sip of his tea.

"As if she would care," Draco said.

"She might for usually going to Voggek for correction rather than as an orphan tends to leave a mark on one's records. And she might not want to get more marks on them," Harrison pointed out.

"I hope you are correct mother," Draco said.

"So do I," Harrison admitted.

They needn't have worried for it seemed that Granger was not looking into where Draco was going after the meal but where Harrison went. Harrison was half tempted to just walk around Kelpie Alley for a long time to see if she went back to her job or if she stayed with him and possibly got in trouble for being away for so long. But that was childish, so he only walked away from the wand shop Draco was working at before reaching an approved Apparition point and heading back to the manor. While he did like the selection of books he had found at the store, Harrison decided not to go back to it for a while lest he ran into Granger again.

When Bella and Xeno went to Hogwarts, Harrison once again saw that Draco had been correct for both of his babies had ended up being sent to Slytherin like the rest of the Malfoy family had done over the years. With the twins at Hogwarts, it felt different to Harrison than when Draco had started school. He guessed he was too concerned with making sure he did nothing to upset the timeline since his younger self had not yet been sent back to meet Luci to feel even a twinge of Empty Nest Syndrome. Yet he felt it now with the twins gone not that he wanted to try for another kid. He would love to have one but considering it had taken fourteen years after countless tries to have Bella and Xeno after Draco had been born, which had come with some miscarriages and aborted pregnancies for health reasons, he did not think he could do it again.

Luci who was now the senior partner of his firm decided to take Harrison's mind off of it by having them travel for a bit. Though neither of them was close to retirement age, as Harrison was only forty-eight, the pair spent a month of vacation from their jobs just to travel the world for a bit. It was fun going to see places from all over the world, both the Muggle and Magical sides during the month as he made plans to do a family trip with Xeno, Bella, and maybe Draco at some point to see some of the sights Luci and he had gone to.

Alas, the family vacation would not be that summer for around the Yule Draco and Neville finally set a date for their bonding to take place. Wanting the twins to be there the ceremony had been planned for after Hogwarts let out for the summer. While at the same time not taking place around the same time as the yearly party for the members of the Lost.

It had been a wonderful ceremony as he watched his Dragon marry Neville without the same drama or issues as his wedding to Luci had to deal with. Which in itself was rather shocking for among those invited to the event were Fabian and Gideon Prewett who had brought the youthened Fredrick and George. Harrison saw that from Fabian and Gideon's influence it was easier to tell the twins apart for Fred had dyed his hair a vivid hot pink while George's hair was baby blue.* It had been nice to see everyone gathered together again, since Fabian and Gideon had moved away and usually only came back to England for the party of the Lost. So seeing them, alongside a lot of the old members of the Governing Group, the Lovegoods, all but Fleur from the Delacour family, his parents, and Grandparents made the day all that more special.

At the reception Luna had unveiled her gift to Draco as a new painting, this one depicting a creature that looked like a deer but in place of normal antlers had what looked like an hourglass affixed to the top of its head. As with the majority of her, work Luna had entitled it as the creature that was being depicted, letting those who were close enough to the painting to see the creature was called a Chronosa.

As the party ran down, but before anyone had left yet Harrison got to his feet to make a toast for his son and new son-in-law. "If I may have everyone's attention please," he said tapping his glass with his spoon to get everyone's attention. Looking around at all the faces of his family and friends that were in attendance he raised his glass which was mirrored by everyone else. "I would like to propose one last toast before Luci pays the bill." His comment caused some in attendance to let out a small chuckle as they recognized a paraphrase of the lyrics of the Muggle music grope ABBA's song When All is Said and Done. "I would like to toast my son and his new mate, but also everyone here in the name of love and family." The call of "For Love and Family" was repeated as everyone took a drink.

Notes:

* The idea for the hair color for Fredrick and George is based on the twins from Ouran High Host Club during a story where they fight with each other. This is mostly done for when I write of the Weasley twins I tend to give them the personality of the Hitachiin twins from the show.

So it all ends. I thank you all for sticking with me as I wrote this story. I hope you liked it. "To Love and Family"
