I've started a rewrite of this story. I first started writing Unexpected Awakening when I was twelve, maybe thirteen. At first, I wrote it because I loved Star Wars and the Jedi Apprentice. As time went on, I lost a lot of friends. First to suicide, then to drugs, then to war. All the sudden, I found myself kind of one of the last one's standing. I think a lot of my grief and sadness, and my own guilt at being alive, went into that fic and shaped it. Anyway, I found I couldn't keep writing it as I aged, because I had started it with writing Obi-Wan from the age of a twelve year old. Now that I'm in my thirties, I want to give it a try. I'm nearly the same age Obi-Wan would have been when he died, and I want to try to write him as a thirty year old PTSD struck with survivals guilt.
