G.U.N H.Q.
Outside of G.U.N H.Q.
Commander Tower was doing a routine, going around and inspecting every detail on the base, and to make sure that his men aren't slacking off. He then stop what he was doing and got call from his wrist watch.
" What is it. "
" One eye eagle, we are receiving a recurring energy flux in your immediate area. " The voice came from the other end.
" I have it. " He look at his wrist watch again, that turn into a radar scanner.
" Here comes the matching intelligence. "
" Mmm..." He hum.
" Request command sequence? "
" No, I got it. " He quickly answer.
" Sir ? "
" I'll take care of it myself. " He said.
" But sir, The procedure. "
" Soldier ? " He order.
" Yes, sir. Sorry sir. " The operator said.
" Keep online, await on my command. " He issue an order.
" Yes, sir. "
The commander then began to take a different route. He took a route towards the empty warehouse, and went inside.
The place was full of boxes, creates, and containers.
It was dark, and a perfect place for him to hide in the dark.
Now it's time for him to show himself.
He then press a button of his watch, and a flash of bright light appear for only a moment.
And then, Shard came falling down.
" aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH-!? * CRASH ! * ARGH !? "
He crashed into some boxes and crates, before stumbling out of the rubble, yet still in a bit of a daze.
" Ow..."
" Shard, why are you following me. " He gazed at the robot.
" I... wait... just what did you do to me..." Still a bit out of it, getting back to his feet.
" That is something that I had if Metal Sonic would tried to get me. It will wear off. " He explain. " Now tell me, why are you here. "
" Ugh... Since you left your... I don't know what you call them... Those headquarters." He answer. The effects started to wearing off.
" You've been following the leader, a commander of G.U.N on the entire planet for over an hour ? "
" Yeah.. " He look away.
" Not bad. " He compliment.
Shard turn his angry gaze at him.
" What do you want, Shard... was is because what happen with Amber. "
" Oh, then I don't have to explain it to you. " He stomp towards him.
" Calm down, I've gotten a report from agent Garnet. But I want to hear it from you. What happen ? "
" Listen to me ! "
" What happened, Shard. "
" Listen to me-! "
" What HAPPENED, Shard. "
" Listen-! "
" What HAPPENED. "
He stop glaring at him, his expression change to a horrified look.
" I've been control by her, me and Omega. Silver got his powers drain by those Egg-grapes that he was put in ! And my friends gotten hurt or worse, Oh did I forget to mention that G.U.N soldiers were there along with other people that are there... Should I go on ! " He shouted at him. The memory of being control still stuck in him.
" Sorry to hear that... What you've been through. "
" Your sorry...!? WHY DO YOU CARE !? " He roar at him. " You've said that I'm an illegal unnatural, killer machine ! YOU'VE SAID THAT ! "
" Say's who. "
" YOU DID ! YOU SAID THAT ! You said that your gonna take me down if I gone rogue ! that I'm dangerous !" He argue.
" I didn't say that. "
" Yes you did ! " He retorted back.
" Oh for the love of- " He facepalm himself. " I thought you were smart, kid... Yes I did say it, but didn't say nothing like that. But before that, I also said my exact words. That you shouldn't get involved too much to be a part of this, to be with the big boys. There will be plenty of time and opportunity for you here later. Enjoy while you can. What I said was: When your ready, you'll be part of something greater. " Which cause Shard to get his attention.
He continue. " To put it simply, you'll be one of the finest heroes this world has ever seen. I really mean it that your a modern miracle machine, Shard. I mean it. Someone like you... are the greatest... ONE of the greatest. "
Shard couldn't believe what he was hear. He didn't think that he would be like this... He thought he was cold, and stern... But he was wrong... However, he isn't sure if what he's telling is true... or all of this is all an act.
The commander gave a sigh. " Listen, you had a tough time, Take some time off. Just because your a hero doesn't mean that you have to be a hero every single second of every day on every single day. Everyone needs a break once in awhile. " He said to him.
"..." He didn't say anything, he just sat on one of the boxes near by, and just stayed there for a moment to think about what he said to him.
" It ain't your fault that something like this happens, when self destructive idiots causes problems. " He explain.
Shard look up to him. " Tell me... what was your beef with her... or rather her beef with you... She wasn't happy about you..."
He gave a sigh. " The reason she hates me is quite long to explain. "
" Then explain. " He gave a sharp tone. Not at the Commander, but about Amber.
" She originally was the head of the science division, along with other scientists. She created all sorts of weapons and machinery, and provided to G.U.N. Then one fateful day, she said that she will create the ultimate weapon that can change the tide of war. " He explain it to Shard.
Shard was listening to him, hearing every detail.
He continue. " It look promising, made a heckuva presentation, at least for G.U.N but for me, not so much. And thats when we slowly start to realized that she was full of bull, nothing but all smoke and mirrors. As it turns out, they were almost out of funding, thats why she reach out for G.U.N. Everything was a mess, She was rushing the process and getting sloppy. "
" She now had a whole lot to answer for. Her division was like a stack of cards waiting to be topple over. To cover her tracks, she publicly declare that she "accidentally" discover some new"thing" Some new "It" that was going to make the world cheer. But behind the scenes, she was scrambling. She was arrogant, and even went too far after being caught mistreating her fellow scientists. "
" Eventually, after two years, She has nothing to show for it. So I, cut the cord between G.U.N and her division. However, some people in HQ didn't want to let her go, so instead she was place in C.L.I.P though it was never the same after that. She was and is, pretty tick off at me... Oh well. " He said it sarcastically on the last part.
" Flash forward to now, She is angry at everyone but herself. However that didn't stop her, She continue her work to find and created the ultimate weapon. And thats when Silver the hedgehog comes in. Seeing the potential and the power he has, She went and kidnap your friend, and wanted use it's power for her creations to make the ultimate weapon. So close... Yet so far... "
He finishing telling him about Amber.
Shard just look at him before going in deep thought about what he said.
Everything about her... Sounds more like Eggman. A shiver ran up to him, after realizing that. He doesn't want another maniac.
" Sounds to me that she was crazy from the start. " He spoke up.
" Pretty much. " He gave a long sigh. " Go home, rest, and look out for your friend, Silver... I hope that he comes out okay. "
Shard then sat up from the boxes that he was sitting on.
"... And what about her assistance... "
" Who ? May... what about her ? "
Shard's gaze harden. " ...Where are you keeping her... "
G.U.N H.Q. - Cell block C
Within the cell block, May was taken to her cell, inside a room with a metal door, alone, wearing and orange prison uniform. She was treated for her injuries after getting shot. She heard a knock on the metal door, before it open.
" You got a visitor. " One of the guard said, before opening fully, revealing Shard from the other side. Which cause her eyes to go wide.
" You got about five minutes. "
" Five minutes is all I need. " He spoke to him back, while keeping an eye on May.
"..." She didn't spoke right away, instead she stayed silence. Her eyes looking away from him.
" Hey, May. " Gave a low tone. " How is your leg... "
"...It's fine... ish... It will be while to recover... " She finally spoke. " Why are you here ? " She ask.
" I just wanted some answers. " He stood there while still keeping a watch at her.
" Answers about what...? "
" Not what... Who..."
"...Amber... " She slumped back. " You wanted to know about Amber...? "
" Yeah... I tried to see her, yet for some reason they don't let me... So Instead, I went to see you. "
She stayed silence for a moment, before speaking up.
" She's been like this ever since. " She answer.
" Ever since...? " He question. " When...? "
" Since She was a kid... like...? thirteen...? Fourteen...? Somewhere between. "
" Wait, your saying that she was like this...? " Sounding a bit surprise to hear this from her.
" Yep... " She look at Shard. " She was like that...But honestly... I don't know of that much... All I know is that her parents didn't appreciated her work... "
" Why ? " He ask her.
" Well... I can't say for sure... but she's ambitious. There are times that she gotten too far, or crossed the line... " She spoke in a serious tone. " There's been somewhat of her going far as to do... that...To your friend. They can be rash of tampering by the people who are trying to be then they are. And every time we try to tamper with it... We get punished for it. "
She continue. " Look at me, I was certainly punished for my sins... Consider it that, Eggman and his nephew, hellbent on world domination. The renegade Freedom Fighters that are, to put it simply, out of their minds. Tensions are high with the Dingos for their hatred towards the Echidnas. And speaking the Echidnas, They've made an army of cult, and are hellbent on their cybernetics, losing themselves in the process. The Hooligans, the Overlanders, and so many more..."
She the gazed at him. " You creator... Sir Charles... You... I mean, I don't know you. But to look at you... You certainly looks like that you've been through a lot... "
She gotten a glare by him, but she didn't pay no mind.
" We seem on dead set turning ourselves into little monsters, don't we...? " She said. " Wonder why is that... It's... all of this... Rage, All of the sudden. And all of us, is so busy running around, trying to beat each other to the the finish line, that no one notice the big sign from the people above that says : Stop-Tampering-Life. "
Shard diverted his optic away.
" Well...I'm sorry either way... "
" ...Sorry for what...? " He farrow.
May look at him with more serious look. " Your Creator... Sir Charles. You may have been created by that Mad Doctor... But Charles, rebuild you. " She lean in close. " Sir Charles is a genius man and an admirable man of science... But now... looking at the end results. The creation of his roboticizer... Seeing the doors they open and where we are now... It looks like he might be the architect, the pioneer, of this horrible decade of nightmares... "
" HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT !? " He lash out at her. " My Da-!? Sir Charles was trying to help !? To build a machine to help them live longer, or better yet save them !? It's not his fault that his work was stolen by that fat man, and twisted it !? YOU- You're the one that sided with Amber and torture my friend, Silver-!? A-All he wanted to do was to... "
" Yeah well... Gerald robotnik wasn't trying to make project Shadow for weapon, but a medical program to cure all illness. And yet, It was deemed to be dangerous. I mean... He did made a deal with the devil, after all... Shadow is part alien... So that makes him a weapon. Either way, it just kinda worked out that way. " She gave an uncaring wave.
Shard was stun in silence
" Again... I'm sorry... "
He gotten back his composure, and before he could say something, the cell door open.
" Times up, Shard. " The guard said.
Shard wanted to argue at him, but knows better to not to argue with him. Instead he comply, and began to be escorted out from the cell, leaving May all alone.
" Shard, is there something wrong. " The commander was there with him.
" I... I have to.... To go... " He started to leave the the cell block.
" Shard...? " He ask him again.
"..." He didn't say anything, instead started to leave the building.
" You think that he's okay...? " One of the soldiers ask the commander.
" No... I don't think that he's okay... " He replied.
Shard exited from Headquarters, and before he used his rockets to fly away from this place.
Omega was there.
" IS IT SOMETHING THE MATTER, BROTHER ? " Omega ask in a worried tone.
Shard turn to face him. " I-I'm leaving... I need to be with my friends... " He stop for a moment before speaking up again. " Listen... You can come with me, make a real differences. Join the Freedom Fighters. You don't have to be here with them."
" I'M SORRY SHARD, BUT I WISH TO REMAIN HERE. "
His optic widen a bit. " W-What... Why...? " He ask.
" I WANTED TO DO SOME MORE GOOD HERE, AND TAKE ME REVENGE ON THE EGGMAN. "
" Omega..."
" SHARD, PLEASE... THIS IS MY CHOICE. I WANT THIS, YOU HAVE YOURS, I HAVE MINE. " The war machine then look up in the sky. " WE ALL MUST DO OUR PART, TO FINALLY PUT A STOP TO HIM, AND SAVE THE WORLD. " He explain.
Shard was conflicted, but did come around a bit.
" ... I guess this is goodbye... " He said in a sad tone.
" THIS ISN'T GOODBYE, THIS IS SEE YA LATER, BROTHER. " Omega then waved him a farewell.
And Shard waved him back.
Then he began to fly off towards Station Square to meet up with his friends.
G.U.N H.Q. - Cell block X
May wasn't the only one that was taken into her cell.
Amber sits alone, pondering how this could have happen.
That is until the cell door open, revealing several men in black suits.
" And who might you all be ? " She question.
" Amber, as you may already know that you and your team has been taken into custody. That you are deemed too dangerous by the eyes of Commander Tower... " The man explain. " However, despite this, We believe that it would be best interest that you work for use for the organization. " He spoke calmly.
" Oh... is that so... What would Commander think about this...? " She ask in a sarcastic tone.
" Don't get me wrong, he did do a good job for the right time, but things have change. And so, we want to you be with the organization. You have a lot of potential, Amber. Being here, in this cell would be a waste of your talens" He explain. " Don't worry, he won't know that your gone... we'll make sure of that, and to cover up. "
" Is that so..." She lean in. With a small devious grin.
" Indeed, you will be provided with resources and funding. You will continue your research, and in exchange, you will provided us the ultimate weapon. And it is our best interest, that you will create this for us. " He gave a firm tone. " We cannot trust the Freedom Fighters for this to save the world, especially that their hero, Sonic is out of the picture... It's up to us to take charge of protecting the world... Do you accept. "
He waited for her answer.
Eventually, she did.
" Very well... Besides, how can I not say no to that. " She gave a wicked smile.
Both man and Amber shook hands, showing that they both understood each other. That she now work for them, in exchange for her service to them.
" Can I ask you something...? What organization are we...? " She ask.
" X.G.U.N " He replied
The beginning of a new enemy.
AN : Looks like things are started to spice up a bit, and things aren't going to be easy for him now.
