Chapter Text
Jamie and Joe get back to Frank and Henry's house and they enter the living room.
Jamie goes and grabs two beers while Joe takes his coat off and sits on the sofa.
Joe can't seem to get May out of his head and he thinks back to how she smiled at him and how she laughed when he was telling a joke.
Jamie comes back into the living room and he sits down next to Joe and hands him the beer and they both just enjoy the silence.
When Joe came into the Reagan's lives he didn't really trust them as he only had his mum when he was growing up and as he got to know his new family he realised that his mum shouldn't have kept who his dad was a secret and actually told him.
It took the Reagan's awhile to get used to having Joe in their lives and it also took Joe time to see that his uncles and grandfather weren't to blame for his dad getting killed.
“So when are you going to ask May out?.” Jamie says.
Joe looked at his uncle and he honestly thought that he was acting cool and not letting it show that he liked the girl.
“I saw the way you were flirting when we met her and Buck.” Jamie says.
“Oh just like you were flirting with Buck.” Joe says.
Jamie looks at his nephew and he thought he was doing a good job at hiding his flirting with Buck.
“Ok we both have caught each other out.” Jamie says.
“Yeah we have.” Joe says.
Both men are laughing and that causes Frank to come into the living room.
“I'm glad you both had a good night but care to explain why you both are laughing so loud?.” Frank asks.
Joe looks at his granddad and he just laughs.
Frank knows that he isn't going to get a straight answer from both of them so he walks away.
Henry comes into the house and hears his great grandson laughing and he goes into the living room.
Henry looks at him and the look causes Joe to laugh more.
“They are drunk pops.” Frank says as he comes into the room,he has two glasses of water and painkillers.
“Yeah, drunk on love.” Jamie says.
“If I am, so are you.” Joe says.
Both Henry and Frank look at one another and then look at both men.
“You both are staying down here and if you are sick you'll both be cleaning it up.” Frank says and he goes back to the kitchen.
“Good luck dealing with the hangover.” Henry says.
“I'm off to bed, Francis, see you in the morning.” Henry shouts out.
“See you in the morning pops.” Frank shouts back.
Frank is going over some paperwork and he can feel himself getting tired but he is going to pull an all-nighter as he doesn't want anything bad to happen to Jamie and Joe so he is going to keep checking on them.
Frank checks on his son and grandson throughout the night and they seem to just be sleeping so Frank goes back to the kitchen.
The next morning Henry comes down the stairs and he sees both Jamie and Joe still on the sofa.
“Wakey, wakey.” Henry shouts.
“Grandpa, do you have to shout?.” Jamie asks.
“Oh I'm sorry, is your head hurting? Henry asks.
“Yes.” Joe says.
“Well that's your own fault.” Henry shouts and he walks to the kitchen.
Henry enters the kitchen and he sees his son has fallen asleep and he thinks back to when his son was a kid and studying for tests and he would always pull all-nighters.
Henry goes over and he gently wakes up his son and it takes a few moments for him to fully wake up.
“Head to bed Francis I'll tell your people that you are ill.” Henry says.
“No pops, I need to head to work.” Frank says.
“You need to take care of yourself and if I have to I'll have you arrested.” Henry says.
“You would definitely do that.” Frank says.
“Danm straight.” Henry says.
Frank gets up and heads to the stairs and he sees Joe and Jamie starting to wake up and the water and painkillers are still on the table.
Henry informs Abigail Baker that Frank won't be in today and says he has a bug and she says she will cancel his meetings.
Henry gets off the phone and he starts to make coffee for himself.
Across New York in Buck and May's apartment.
May wakes up and she gets up but when she puts pressure on her wrist she feels pain shoot through it.
May screams out and Buck comes rushing in.
“I'm fine, it's just my wrist.” May says.
Buck looks at it and the swelling has gone down a bit so that's a good sign.
“Ok ice it some more but the swelling is going down.” Buck says.
“Thanks Buck. Hey, do you want to do me a favor?.” May asks.
“May I'm not telling mum about you getting hurt, that's your job.” Buck says and he walks out of her room.
“Your mean.” May shouts back.
Buck walks into his room and he starts to get ready for work and he can hear May moaning that she has to tell their mother about what happened.
May manages to get out of her bed and she goes to her dressing table and she picks up her phone and turns it on and once she has unlocked it she looks for her mother's number and once she has found it she presses the number.
“Please don't answer.” May says to herself.
Luck is not on May's side and Athena answers.
“Hey sweetheart, are you enjoying the big apple?.” Athena asks.
“Oh you know me mum I'm taking a bite out of the big apple.” May says.
“That's my girl. So how is everything going? Are you enjoying dispatch? How's your brother doing at work? Is he getting treated correctly?. Athena asks.
“Wow mum, so many questions.” May says.
“I'm sorry.” Athena says.
“Well I'm enjoying dispatch. Buck is doing great at work and he has made friends and they know what's happened but they have chosen to see him as the man he is now but that's all.” May says.
“I'm glad sweetheart.” Athena says.
“May that's me off now and if that's mum tell her I said hi and remember don't put too much pressure on your wrist.” Buck says from the doorway.
“Fine Buck, see you later.” May says.
Buck leaves the apartment and May hopes her mother didn't hear what Buck said.
“What did your brother mean about your wrist?.” Athena asks.
May closes her eyes and of course luck would be against her.
“Ok please don't overreact but last night when me and Buck went to a bar this guy wouldn't leave me alone and he ended up hurting me but it's only a sprained wrist.” May says.
Athena is silent and that's what May was dreading.
“Did Buck look at your wrist?.” Athena asks.
“Yes and I iced it last night before I went to bed and the swelling has gone down.” May says.
“Ok and if you think you are ok then I'm trusting you.” Athena says.
“Thank you.” May says.
“I'm still angry that you weren't going to tell me but I'm glad that you're ok.” Athena says.
May knows that she is lucky to have a mum like hers and she understands that her mother just wants them to be safe and to always be aware of your surroundings.
“I'm going to go as I've finished the night shift.” Athena says.
“Ok mum, have a good sleep.” May says.
Both women hang up and May goes and sees what she can have for breakfast.
When Buck gets to the hospital he walks in and goes to the locker room and once inside Buck goes to his locker and he opens his locker door and he puts his bag in his locker and takes out his ID badge and security pass.
Buck walks out the locker room and he walks to the nurses station and he gets a handover from the night shift nurse.
Buck takes the phone from the nurse and he logs on to the phone and the computer to show that he is now the nurse in charge.
Paramedics come through the hospital and Buck tells them where to go and he tells what doctors are taking what patients and a pair of paramedics come through the doors and they have someone on the gurney.
Buck goes over and he sees it's a female and she is NYPD.
“Bay 3 guys.” Buck says.
A doctor comes over and he starts the examination and the officer is awake so she says what happens.
“Eddie you ok?.” The officer asks as he comes into the room.
Buck looks up from the phone and he is surprised to see Jamie.
“Jamie, what a surprise.” Buck says.
“Buck, good to see you.” Jamie says.
“So your Buck. Jamie couldn't stop talking about you when we were patrolling.” Eddie says.
“Ignore her.” Jamie says.
“Let's move on shall we. Eddie, can you tell us what happened?.” Buck asks.
“We chasing this girl as she had just assaulted an elderly woman and I managed to catch up to her and we got into a physical fight and she put up a good fight and I done the same but I heard a sound and she managed to get the upper hand and she punched me in the face and twisted my arm and then threw me to the ground.” Eddie says.
“”What I'm going to do is get some tests run and book you in for an x-ray.” The doctor says.
“Ok. Do I need to stay here all night?.” Eddie asks.
“You may have to but let the doctor do the required tests and x-ray and then you'll have a more concrete answer.” Buck says.
Eddie nods and the doctor leaves the room and Buck sends the message telling people what tests are required.
Eddie is looking at Buck and then she looks at Jamie.
“He's cute.” Eddie says.
“You get beaten up and you are still interested in my love life.” Jamie laughs.
“A girl needs time to kill.” Eddie says.
“Ok Eddie I need you to change into this gown.” Buck says and he holds up a gown for Eddie to change into.
Jamie leaves the room and he sees Buck come out and the curtains are pulled and Buck walks back to the nurses station.
Jamie thinks about how he would like to get to know Buck more and how the man has a great smile and those blue eyes are definitely nice to look at.
