Chapter Text

“We need to talk about it eventually, it’s only for the best.”

Omen began to lift out of trance at the sound of Sova’s voice, his head still fuzzy as he took a moment to listen to the conversation.

“It’s been a day , dear. We don’t even know if there’s anything there! It could just be that he wanted our company platonically .”

“I’ve just got a gut feeling about this.”

He kept as still as he could, cracking one of his eyes open ever so slightly to watch them. He had turned on his side while trancing, meaning he was really only facing Cypher. The two were still sitting in the bed, now upright, as Sova’s hand was running soft lines up and down his side. Cypher’s hand was playing with his own, the warmth of his hands radiating off from his light touch.

They were speaking in hushed tones, trying their best to keep him sleeping. Cypher’s mask was off, his hair tousled from sleep as his free hand reached to try and tame it.

He had seen Cypher without his mask, sure, but this was the closest he had ever been. He could see so much more of his face, and of the small features that made him uniquely him. After taking a moment to admire, he closed his eyes again to continue faking his rest.

“A gut feeling gives no confirmation. This is going to eat away at him, and at us if we don’t talk about it.” Omen heard a smile creep onto the Moroccan’s face, before he sighed. “Good morning.”

Shit.

He was contemplating going back into trance, because he was tired enough that he really could if he wanted to, but he snapped back to the realization that he had been caught red-handed. There was no point in hiding.

“Mmm-Good morning,” he mumbled as he cracked his eyes open again. He still was very tired, but he could be awake for the time being. “Sorry, still kind of sleepy.” Rubbing at his face seemed to be fruitless in his attempt to get the sleep out of his voice.

“It’s okay.” Sova’s hand moved to his arm as he spoke, his eyes flicking back to Cypher before moving back to him. “This is actually really good timing, it’s-”

“-It’s romantic, I promise. I was waiting for one of you to approach, it wasn’t my place to beforehand,” he blurted as he sat up to join them. His bones still felt heavy with sleep, but his brain was a bit more awake as he looked over at Cypher. “Didn’t want to encroach on your relationship, but I even lost Viper a bet over this, so I know I wasn’t entirely subtle.

“If you were plain about it, you would have won Viper the bet. She’s notoriously terrible at reading people.”

“But she’s good at reading me ,” he laughed. “We’re very close, more than people expect, honestly.”

“We are getting off subject, however.” Sova reigned the two back in quickly. “It isn’t like that much of our dynamic would change, but Cypher and I did actually talk about this a little while ago-”

“- A little while ago - we literally talked about it yesterday,” Cypher joked. “We talked about it during a conversation a few months ago as a general thing, and talked about it specifically with you yesterday when you went to help Viper.” he reached out and took their hands, one of Sova’s and one of Omen’s. “If this is the way we want to go, we all need to be one-hundred percent on board and be able to express that .”

“I am ready to work on doing that.” The shadow squeezed Cypher’s hand before reaching for Sova’s open one and finding purchase. “I am still re-learning my emotions and what each one is, but I know that I have such strong feelings towards you both.”

That burn was back, he knew it was going to be okay. He chuckled through it as the two looked at him with nothing but love. Sova was the first to move, scooting closer and wrapping him in a cuddling hug. Cypher followed quickly and latched to the opposite side.

“We’re obnoxiously touchy, just to let you know,” the shorter man laughed as he adjusted himself.

“I want nothing more than that.” He could feel the burning begin to die down as they held him close. “It’s still early, I want to go back to sleep,” he jokingly whined as the group slid back down into the warm bed.

“I will never understand how you went years without sleeping ! It’s such a comfort!” Sova’s hand found the same spot as the night before and continued to caress the area.

“It’s hard when you’re alone, and I gave up most of my connections for the Protocol. I am not a touchy person normally, especially when it’s people I’m not terribly close to.” He craned his head out slightly to nuzzle it into Cypher’s chest. “Every time I would interact with you two outside of work, I would get this burning in my chest that was honestly a little worrying for the first few instances.”

“Is cuddling helping?” The man teased as he brought his chin down to touch his head.

“Immensely.” He yawned again before closing his eyes and settling into a short silence.

Sleep took him before he could even hear anything more.
